How Detox Baths Changed My Life

Today, I am going to tell you how detox baths changed my life. Over the past few years, I have made big lifestyle adjustments by including healthy foods and recipes, as well as training for triathlons. Don’t worry – we’ll cover that topic in depth later.

What is a detox bath?

A detox bath helps your body eliminate toxins, while simultaneously absorbing minerals and nutrients. You will feel more relaxed, your skin will feel smoother, your muscles will no longer be sore, and your soul will be refreshed. On a daily basis, your body is exposed to so many chemicals, and a detox bath can help get rid of these.


What’s the recipe?

I found a few recipes online, but here is what I included in mine:

  1. 2 cups of Epsom salt – I used Dr. Teals Epsom Salt because I love the smell of lavender.
  2. 1/2 cup of baking soda
  3. A few drops of essential oils – I used Aura Cacia Eucalyptus Essential Oil, which is said to have many healing properties.

Other optional ingredients:

  • Ginger – which is said to increase the temperature to help you sweat more toxins out.
  • Apple cider vinegar
  • Sea salt

Every recipe is different, so I will personally need to try a few to find my favorite concoction. However, the benefits I’ve seen have been huge already!


The bath

Dim your lights and light some candles. Sit. Relax. 20 minutes should be the perfect amount of time.

After the bath

After your bath, pat yourself dry and be sure to wrap yourself up in a cozy robe or pajamas. You are going to be really tired after this process, and you’ll continue to sweat the toxins out.

Be warned! You will be exhausted after this bath, so be gentle to yourself.

What I learned

I immediately saw positive effects from the detox baths, so I have continued them 2-3 times per week. First, I noticed a drastic difference in the way I felt. After each bath, I’ve fallen into a deep sleep, and the next morning I wake up completely refreshed. My skin feels clear, and most importantly, my body felt energized and refreshed. Secondly, I fought off a cold that was just starting. Yes, it’s true. Detox baths can also help your immune system kick an illness! Finally, it reduced my desire for some of the previous toxins I enjoyed – namely wine 🙂 Normally, I love a glass of wine with dinner, but post-detox baths I have not craved or missed alcohol.

All in all, this is a simple home remedy that you can include in your daily life, and you’ll see huge improvements!
